The first of its kind CoE was set-up at an estimated budget of Rs. 193 Crores, in which 90% of the fund was received as grant from Siemens Global Fund for Technical Education. Dr. (Mrs) Mini Shaji Thomas is the Director of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT, Trichy). Dr. Thomas was the founder Director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), and Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JMI. She was the Central Public Information officer (CPIO) of JMI from 2008-2014 and the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering from 2005-2008. Dr. Thomas was a faculty member at Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi (now DTU), and at the REC (now NIT), Calicut, Kerala before joining Jamia. She graduated from University of Kerala (Gold Medalist), completed her M. Tech from IIT Madras (Gold Medalist, Siemen’s prize) & PhD from IIT Delhi, India, all in Electrical Engineering.

Dr. Ganesan Kannabiran is the Director of IIIT Sricity, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Kannabiran was a senior Professor of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. He has served as Head of the Department and Dean of Research & Consultancy. He also served as the Director i/c of the institute for a brief period in 2016. He is a recipient of Commonwealth Professional Fellowship (Edinburgh Napier University, UK), Fulbright Fellowships (Education Administrators Programme, Fulbright Visiting Lecturer at Oklahoma State University), and British Council Study Fellowship (Huddersfield University UK). He is the founding Director of Centre for Entrepreneurship and Incubation, a Section 8 Company promoted by NIT Trichy. He served as the expert for an international research study on Measuring Productivity in Higher Education supported by APO.

Professor Liu Hong, also the Executive Director of the Lien Legacy Fellowship Programme has led the NCPA which has trained over 15,000 government officials from China and Southeast Asia and as. In his capacity as Chairman of the Nanyang Consulting Co., he assists the NTU senior management pertaining to the University’s engagement with China, including the overall management of NTU representative offices in Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. Professor Liu has served as Assistant Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the National University of Singapore. He also served as the first Director of the Centre for Chinese Studies and Chair Professor of East Asian Studies at the University of Manchester. Professor Liu has held a number of visiting professorship/fellowship appointments, including at Harvard, Kyoto, Peking, Amsterdam, and Stockholm Universities.
